We went to the zoo last week and had so much fun. She would actually look at all of the animals and loved it, except for the chimpanzees. For some reason she did not like them and it made her cry when I would try to show her them.

8 months!!
Wow time has flown by. Doesn't 8 months seem so old? She is loving life. Her favorite things at this age:
swim classes
beach runs with friends
shopping
playing on the floor
daddy throwing her high in the air
taking bites of mommy's banana (even though daddy hates that!)
making ear piercing shrieks
sippy cup
all food and eating
swinging at the park
turning the pages while reading a book
She just learned how to clap her hands and she is so close to crawling. These last couple of weeks we have had some fun play dates....bowling, the Zimmer museum, and a pizza party. We love having such great friends to hang out with all week long. She still sleeps 3 naps a day but we are transitioning to two. We are so lucky to have such a great little girl. WE LOVE YOU JADE!

Pictures from this week

I have finally decided to start decorating our apartment. I never really have done too much in the past because I have known that we would only be there for a short time. I got this great idea from my friend Tasha. Jade loves to look at all of the pictures. Thanks Tasha!!

Peas, carrots, and prunes
Jade has been eating solids for about 2 1/2 months now and I have made it all!! I have not bought one jar. I got a baby food cookbook from a friend and I love it! It is so fun for me to make it all and it is so much cheaper, and healthier than buying it by the jar. One batch of peas will last you forever! I make a big batch and then freeze it in ice cube trays so everyday I just take out one cube and it's the perfect serving size. So far I have made butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, prunes, green beans, carrots, apricots, and pears. Her favorites are the prunes, and carrots.
Here is the recipe for the butternut squash:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut squash in half and scrape out seeds.
Put squash, cut side down, in a baking pan. Pour water into pan to come 1/4 inch up the sides of the squash. Roast until tender when pierced with a fork, 45-1hour, depending on size. Let cool.
Scoop out flesh and puree in food processor until smooth. Add water, breast milk, or formula to thin to a consistency your baby can handle. (I use the water left in the roasting pan)
To store- in refrigerator for 3 days, freeze up to 3 months.
babies enjoy!
