family visits

Dan's family and my family have recently came to visit. We had so much fun with them and it was the first time Dan's family met Adelle. Here are some pics of our time with them.

I just thought this picture was funny

2 months

The only picture I have come close to getting her with a smile

The Lorax

Cirque du Soleil at the Santa Monica Pier. We LOVED the show!

Adelle at two months

Finding time to blog is a lot harder with two kids. I have a lot of catching up to do. Adelle is now two months old! My parents and Stevie were in town a couple of weeks ago so we decided to bless her then. We were going to wait until April when we are in Utah (for my graduation) but decided we didn't want to wait that long. Here are some pictures of that special day.

Some info of Adelle at two months:

-She is finally smiling a lot more. She was pretty stingy with her smiles before now.
-Still an awesome sleeper! Twice this week she has slept 10 hours at night without even having to put her paci back in!
-Such a happy baby, never cries.
-Already has been to Disneyland twice and was an angle both times.
-loves watching Jade, though she always flinches when Jade comes near. It's her reaction because Jade likes to show her things by putting the toy too close to her face.
-Weighed 13 pounds 3 ounces and 23 3/4 inches long. She's getting big. Those both are almost in the 90 percentile!
-Loves to be swaddled super tight. We even bought the velcro swaddling blankets which I love.
-She spits up a ton!! Every feeding and I've even cut down her eating time because I thought I was maybe overfeeding her but she did spit up just the same.
-loves to sleep in her carseat.

nightmare

Do you ever wonder what your little child dreams about? Well, last night Jade woke up screaming. She had a nightmare. She had a horrible dream about being at church in nursery. She said that they were having Valentine's day snacks and she didn't want to have the snack at church, she wanted to have it at home. Of course her nightmare would be about food! So funny! Adelle slept 8 hours straight for the first time, too bad we were still woken up by big sis.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Here are the one week pics! I know most of you have already seen them. But they are so cute I couldn't resist posting some more.

Adelle is now a little older than a month! She has been an angle. She really is such a good baby. She never cries and sleeps a ton. Last night I fed her at 9:30 pm and she went to sleep and then she didn't wake up until 6am!! She is just now starting to notice Jade. It's cute because she will just want to sit in her bouncy chair and watch her play. I also wanted to report that she did great while I was away. Last weekend a bunch of friends and I got together for a weekend in Palm Springs. I was a little nervous to leave Adelle but she did great. Dan loved it too. While I was gone I called to check in on him to see how things were going. He told me that he had already taken both girls with him to get his haircut and then they went to the park! He also told me that he was having so much fun with them and that I should go away more often!! Anyone else want to go on a girls trip??? I need to take him up on his offer before he forgets!

Birth Story

Birth Story
I know this will be very boring for most of you, but I wanted to record what happened because I know I will soon forget.

We had been planning on getting induced at 39 weeks the entire pregnancy. So the night before 39 weeks we checked in the hospital at 7pm. We decided to do what we did with Jade and start with cirvidil. (This is a way to induce labor but typically is a lot slower, it thins the cervix)
9pm- Cirvidil put in. At this point I was 3cm and 70% and head in 0 station. I wan't having any painful contractions but still was having a hard time sleeping.
12:30 am- I asked for some meds in my IV to help me sleep. Still no painful contractions. I was able to sleep for 1 1/2 hours.
2:30am- stronger contractions around every 5 minutes
3:30am- still couldn't sleep but not too much pain but asked for epidural to hopefully help me be able to sleep.
4:00 am-epidural . My water broke partially. 4-5 cm and tried to sleep for a couple of hours.
7am- no progress and contractions were irregular so they started me on a low dose of pitocin.
8am-PAIN!! Epidural wore off and anesthesiologist came back to give me another dose.
8:30 am- 9cm STILL BAD PAIN . We did one practice push and head was right there.
9:30 am- made the anesthesiologist come back again for more meds. I was feeling everything and wanted more meds so that I could be numb for the pushing.
10:00am- finally pain under control. Pushed through 2 contractions and Adelle was born.

After she was born I felt so much better than after Jade was born. With Jade I was really sick and threw up and had to get a shot in my leg because I was bleeding so much. This time I felt great and was able to enjoy holding my new baby.

We were able to be in the VIP suite because of Dan's connections with UCLA. The room was awesome. It was so big and had a couch with a fold out bed for Dan to sleep on. Adelle did really well in the hospital. I remember only one night were I was a little overwhelmed because I felt like I was breastfeeding her all night long.

When we came home we expected the worse. With Jade the first two night at home were horrible. She screamed all night long and just wanted to eat nonstop. Adelle has been an angle. Seriously the opposite of how Jade was. The first night home she slept 4 hours and then 3 hours. With Jade I remember for a long time she would eat almost every two hours at night and then be awake for 2 hours. Adelle eats and goes right back to sleep. It's wonderful.

She is now 2.5 weeks 0ld and she still is doing great. I only have to feed her once in the middle of the night. Isn't that crazy??? Two weeks old and she goes a 5-6 hour first stretch and then another 4-5 hour stretch. Jade wasn't doing that until she was at least 2 months old. I hope it lasts. I really think it has a lot to do with the sleep positioner that she sleeps on because I didn't get it until after Jade was 2 months old and that's when she started sleeping those long stretches.

Dan has been home most of the time and it has been so nice. He wakes up with Jade so I can sleep a little longer and has been taking her to all of her fun activities so that she can get out of the house. I'm a little scared for next week when we will be all alone.

Also, Jade got her first haircut!!
