8 months!!

Jade and Macy in a plane at the museum

This is how I found her the other morning with one arm out of her jammies

Wow time has flown by. Doesn't 8 months seem so old? She is loving life. Her favorite things at this age:

swim classes
beach runs with friends
shopping
playing on the floor
daddy throwing her high in the air
taking bites of mommy's banana (even though daddy hates that!)
making ear piercing shrieks
sippy cup
all food and eating
swinging at the park
turning the pages while reading a book

She just learned how to clap her hands and she is so close to crawling. These last couple of weeks we have had some fun play dates....bowling, the Zimmer museum, and a pizza party. We love having such great friends to hang out with all week long.
She still sleeps 3 naps a day but we are transitioning to two. We are so lucky to have such a great little girl. WE LOVE YOU JADE!

Pictures from this week

Thanks aunt Stevie for such great books! (I found her like this today)

Jade loves her sippy cup. When we are feeding her she always lets us know just what she wants. First she opens her mouth so big for a bite and then she will shut her mouth tight and reach for the sippy cup. After she gets a big gulp, she opens her mouth for another bite. Then another drink. She likes to switch off the whole meal. It's so cute!

She is a little lazy sitting in the highchair. But this week she did sit the the shopping cart for the first time!!

I have finally decided to start decorating our apartment. I never really have done too much in the past because I have known that we would only be there for a short time. I got this great idea from my friend Tasha. Jade loves to look at all of the pictures. Thanks Tasha!!

Peas, carrots, and prunes

Jade has been eating solids for about 2 1/2 months now and I have made it all!! I have not bought one jar. I got a baby food cookbook from a friend and I love it! It is so fun for me to make it all and it is so much cheaper, and healthier than buying it by the jar. One batch of peas will last you forever! I make a big batch and then freeze it in ice cube trays so everyday I just take out one cube and it's the perfect serving size. So far I have made butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, prunes, green beans, carrots, apricots, and pears. Her favorites are the prunes, and carrots.

Here is the recipe for the butternut squash:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut squash in half and scrape out seeds.

Put squash, cut side down, in a baking pan. Pour water into pan to come 1/4 inch up the sides of the squash. Roast until tender when pierced with a fork, 45-1hour, depending on size. Let cool.

Scoop out flesh and puree in food processor until smooth. Add water, breast milk, or formula to thin to a consistency your baby can handle. (I use the water left in the roasting pan)

To store- in refrigerator for 3 days, freeze up to 3 months.

babies enjoy!

Christmas in Utah

We were able to go to Utah over the holidays for 10 days!! It was the longest trip that we have taken since moving to LA. We had so much fun! We flew in on Christmas day and on the plane ride over I noticed that Jade had a tooth growing in. We all had such a great Christmas day. I got some gift cards and my NEW RING!!!!! I absolutely love it. It is my perfect ring. Dan got a surf board and daddy got Jade swim lessons at the YMCA. It was good to be with Dan's whole family. We always have so much fun when everyone is together.

We were able to take advantage of free babysitting from Dan's parents to celebrate my 25 birthday! Wow, that seems so old. We went to dinner and a movie with Nichole and Brady.

Dan's parents took the whole family to a beautiful bed and breakfast in SLC and we stayed for two nights. We were able to see the lights at Temple square and go shopping at the Gateway mall.

Jade got to see all of her cousins and met baby Enoch for the first time!

SANTA and Ella's Chritmas party!

Jade was invited to her friend Ella's Christmas pajama party. It was so much fun! She was not feeling that great because she had just got her shots the day before.

Our friend Josh was Santa this year at our ward Christmas party and Jade loved him!!! She told Santa that she wanted lots of new toys to chew on.

(is that you Josh?)
